BRAIN & BRAIN PET 2022 Bursary’s & Awards

Early Career Investigator (ECI) Travel Bursary

This bursary is intended to defray the cost of attending the meeting and will be offered to participants whose abstracts have been accepted for presentation

Who can Apply?

To be eligible for the Travel Bursary, you must be a member of the Society as well as the presenting author of an abstract submitted for oral presentation at BRAIN & BRAIN PET 2022 and belong to one of the following two groups:

Student ECI – Students who are enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, professional degree (e.g., bachelors, masters or PhD student; graduate student; medical student; any equivalent roles)

Scholar ECI – Scholars with PhD, MD or equivalent degree who have been in a research training program for less than 5 years since obtaining their last degree (e.g., research fellow; postdoctoral associate; postdoctoral fellow; etc.), or medical specialty program (neurology, neurosurgery etc. resident or trainee)

 

Selection:

The recipients of the travel bursary will be selected by the Programme Committee of the Society based upon:

  • An indication during abstract submission that the presenting author is eligible for the award based on the above criteria.
  • An indication during abstract submission of their desire to be considered for the travel bursary.
  • Exceptional quality of the submitted abstract. This is generally determined by the score the abstract receives in relation to all abstracts submitted by eligible members.

 

How to Apply:

Apply by submitting an abstract for presentation and a letter of confirmation from your institution as proof of your eligibility to apply for the bursary. You must also submit ISCBFM membership confirmation. 

Please follow the steps below: 

  1. Submit your abstract through the BRAIN & BRAIN PET 2022. Abstract submission is now open and will close on 28 March 2022. 
  2. Indicate if you wish to apply for the bursary under the ‘Additional Information’ tab during submission.
  3. Upload a letter of confirmation from your institution as proof of your eligibility to apply for the bursary as well as your ISCBFM membership confirmation.

 

Please Note:
Notifications of Bursary Acceptance will be sent by April 2022. Funds will be provided to the award recipients at the Conference venue.

 

Niels Lassen Award

The Lassen Award is presented by the International Society for Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism to recognise an outstanding scientific contribution made by a young scientist. The recipient is selected by the Programme Committee based on an abstract submitted for presentation at the Conference.

 

The Niels Lassen Award will consist of:

  • A bursary to partially defray the expense of attending the BRAIN & BRAIN PET 2022 meeting
  • An award ceremony prior to the abstract presentation
  • A certificate of recognition
  • $1,500 cash prize

 

Who can Apply for the Award?

To be eligible for the Lassen Award, you must be a member of the Society as well as the presenting author of an abstract submitted for oral presentation at BRAIN & BRAIN PET 2022 and belong to one of the following two groups:

Student ECI – Students who are enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, professional degree (e.g., bachelors, masters or PhD student; graduate student; medical student; any equivalent roles)

  • Exceptional quality of the submitted abstract, generally determined by receiving the highest score of all abstracts submitted by eligible members.

 

How to Apply:

Apply via the abstract submission portal, which closes on 23 January 2022, by submitting an abstract for presentation and including the following information in the ‘Additional Information’ tab:

 

  • CV of the presenting author
  • Letter of recommendation from your mentor/supervisor
  • An appropriate proof of your status (e.g., certificate of enrollment, letter from a supervisor or department director, confirmation of two sponsoring society members)
  • ISCBFM membership confirmation
